Based in Los Angeles, Phantom Acoustics is an audio enhancement technology company committed to delivering studio quality sound to consumer's portable audio devices. Phantom restores latent audio content which greatly improves the sound quality of compressed digital audio by revealing information suppressed in the sound floor. This allows consumers to enjoy the full robustness of the audio recordings that they are not even aware they are not experiencing. Through this, Phantom has the power to put content quality rather than access at the center of digital music experience. Phantom will enter the market through a licensing revenue model with a proprietary chip that can be embedded into any consumer electronic device and create new value for end-users by dramatically improving the sound quality of the digital audio content. Phantom will then monetize this chip by licensing it to pre-existing companies so that they may be integrated into consumer electronics products such as headphones, telephones, portable speakers, and televisions. In exchange for use of the technology, the licensee will pay Phantom a combination of fixed upfront payments and revenue-dependent royalty fees. Phantom has developed a best-in-class method for channel manipulation that allows its products to achieve their stated mission of improving the audio listening experience for all. The result is both left and right in-phase signals, which are the dominant signal, as well as a left minus right and a right minus left out-of-phase signals. Standard equipment does not allow the listener to hear the negative out-of-phase signals. Furthermore, Phantom changes the ratio of the out-of-phase sound waves, moving them closer to the dominant signal, and then cross-mixing them. This approach restores the phase relationship in the listener’s head, allowing the out-of-phase information to be heard—producing 20%+ more music envelope than previously available to end user.
