During these times of considerable change in the educational community, schools are faced with a growing number of vulnerable young people who present with a wide range of learning, domestic, social and emotional needs which have a significant impact on their ability to engage fully with teaching and learning. Many pupils face repeated Internal, Fixed-Term or even Permanent Exclusion which results in a disjointed learning journey. To help schools meet the increasingly diverse needs of pupils, Pi Educational Assessment launched a new service designed to get to the root of pupils’ individual needs and to offer advice and suggestions for ways in which those needs can be supported. We can offer a range of specialist assessment packages as well as bespoke, one-off assessments targeting specific concerns. Assessments Based around the four areas of need in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (SEN CoP), we provide detailed, standardised assessments carefully chosen to investigate and verify a wide range of abilities within Maths/ Numeracy and English/Literacy. In addition, we deliver analysis and screening for a range of learning barriers and assess for specific language weaknesses, assess pupil’s levels of vocabulary and understanding. We also examine in detail a student’s social, emotional and mental state using recognised professional assessments. We can identify any self-esteem, personality or anxiety difficulties and provide strategies to help cope with them. All information is formulated into a full detailed report advising on strategies and providing evidence for signposting to other services (Educational / Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.). RISK Management and EHCP Application In addition to assessments, Pi Educational Assessment Ltd can produce a comprehensive risk management plan and collaborate with the student, parents and school to propose and agree learning plan targets and provide advice and support to SENCOs around the SEN CoP. We also provide support for pupils with specific needs through application for EHCP and with support for EHCP/Statement review.
