People often ask me ‘what is Pilates?’ and to be honest it has many avenues, which relate to the body, mind, daily movement & the way we think. In 2010 I started to practice Pilates myself, I have grown to LOVE the technique more & more, especially as I continue to develop my own knowledge & further my understanding about the technique. I could talk all day about the benefits of Pilates and how it could help many people, but to summarise in my own words, the basics of mat-based Pilates is: Slow & Controlled exercises performed to Strengthen the Core, Elongate a variety of muscle groups, help correct Postural Alignment and increase Flexibility in the spine and various muscles.
