Pinetree Capital is a value-oriented investment company focused on enterprise software and technology. With access to permanent capital, Pinetree is not encumbered by restrictions that impact investment timing, minimum or maximum size of investments, or other factors that influence many of our peers. The weighting of our investments across software verticals, geographies, or investee size changes over time with a view of maximizing the total value of our portfolio and without regard to maintaining particular allocations. Our goal is to grow Pinetree’s book value per share over the long-term. Our managers are experienced technology investors who follow value investing principles. We invest in a concentrated manner on a long-term basis. We invest primarily in equity, as well as debt and convertible securities, typically holding 8-12 investments. Despite being minority investors, we believe an owner’s mindset is important; where appropriate, we engage with the management teams and boards of our investees by providing strategic advice, backed by enterprise software operating experience, to achieve good outcomes for all stakeholders.
