Pips - Pregnancy Infancy Parenting Support

PIPS is a Christchurch based charity that supports families right across Canterbury. We collect new and gently-used baby gear to provide safety, opportunity and dignity for families in need, while reducing the amount of goods sent to landfill. We provide a unique service as a 'social baby store’, giving all families the opportunity to ’shop’ for essential baby items, while providing the dignity of choice, at no-cost. Our open-door policy supports all people who are pregnant and/or parenting including mothers, fathers, grandparents and carers, to access our services. We firmly believe that every family deserves supported parents, healthy babies and to be connected to their community. We know that women and families thrive best when their care providers work together. We regularly work with social workers, midwives, family support workers and Plunket nurses from a large number of organisations to get the best outcomes for families accessing our services. Alongside our focus of providing essential baby gear to families in need, we provide a wrap-around service that centres on wellness and supporting families and their babies. This includes running weekly parent support groups, lactation support, Infant + Child First Aid courses and social connectedness through volunteering opportunities.
