Founded in 1992 by Leonard Tauman and Dan Koukol, the company pioneered the computerization of California’s criminal sentencing laws. By 1998, over 500 judges had been trained on its use, and by CrimeTime was utilized in nearly every county in the state. In 2011, The Placer Group expanded its offerings with CrimeFinder, a crime lookup tool for mobile devices, which is now used over times a day, making it California's most popular criminal justice app.
