PlastX is an ambitious Circular Economy start-up, about to revolutionise the recovered plastic supply chain in Asia. Circular Economy is the cornerstone of sustainability. But true circularity requires material to be collected, recycled, remanufactured, and re-utilised in a continuous cycle of use. Clean-up programs and recycling drives are brilliant, but unless there's a ready market for the collected plastic, they only solve half the problem. PlastX turns the issue of plastic recovery on its head, by STARTING with demand – and collecting post-consumer waste plastic to fulfill that demand. In much of Asia - where municipal recycling infrastructure ranges from suboptimal to entirely absent - recyclables are collected by informal workers, sold to scrap dealers, and subsequently traded through networks of middlemen until they eventually reach a recycler. It’s an expensive, exploitative, and inefficient supply chain - tainted with child labour and modern slavery. Developed specifically for Asian markets, PlastX shines a spotlight on this dark data world. Using blockchain-like tech, the PlastX app digitally and physically records each step in the recovery process, to provide a transparent, modern, and efficient supply chain. PlastX collectors earn almost 50% more than they do selling their plastic through existing channels; and our customers get the exact recovered plastic they need - with visibility, security and demonstrated provenance.
