Podere Sapaio

Massimo Piccin, Podere Sapaio owner, was born in 1968 in Vittorio Veneto, a small town near Venice and close to the Prosecco area. After a bachelor in engineering he has been working in his father’s company in the construction field. His great passion for wine drove he to look for a place where to set up a winery and start a wine production. With the precious help of a friend and business mate, Roy Bernard, he arrives in Bolgheri in and he bought the first 8 hectars of land. Then, he mets Carlo Ferrini, who was fascinated by his project and started to work with him to built the vineyards. They planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. In 2002 Massimo definitely moved to Bolgheri. The property has been developed and now Podere Sapaio has 40 hectars of land with 25 hectars of vineyards. Respect for the land and the sustainable approach are the two fundamental principles of Sapaio production philosophy. The work in the vineyard is expression without compromising the harmony between man and nature. Two Podere Sapaio wines, Volpolo Bolgheri DOC and Sapaio Bolgheri Superiore are both blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and produced exclusively from grapes grown in Podere Sapaio vineyards. From the collection and selection of the grapes, everything is done by hand. In the cellar, the naturalness of the wines is combined with the technical skills. Sapaio technique is aimed at the harmonious interplay between nature and humans. That is that Sapaio wants all technical equipment are innervated by human amount. The first vintage of both Volpolo and Sapaio was 2004. Campaign financed according to (eu) reg 1308/2013
