Policy Adda

What are you talking about.policy! adda! is that a concern of regular folk like me? Isn’t it a business of big shot policy makers, government officials? What can I do there? Why should I care? As a citizen doesn’t my responsibility is to vote only and elect a representative and not get involved in anything else? We often think this is how the general population thinks. But is it a true or one of those popular fallacies? Do people really care? If so, the situation needs to be changed or if it is not then the misconception should be corrected. Government policies are made for the people and in a democracy it should be shaped by the people. It is important that the public know and discuss the issue of financing of our educational system. As a country are we upholding the rights of women or is our system ready to deal with the threats climate change pose? These are burning issues that we need to discuss and vast majority of the population want to discuss. Thing is there isn’t a platform where people can gather and share their view. That is where the “Policy Adda” comes in. ‘Adda’ is a Bengali word that means, informal discussion in a gathering. We want to create a virtual platform where people can gather to share their opinion about government policies, dissect or scrutinise them, tear them apart to create mass awareness and consensus on a issue. It is an outlet for sharing views in your own words about what is right and what is wrong with a specific policy and what can be done to make it better or implement it in a better way. Policy Adda intends to create close camaraderie among experts of the field who create the policies and not-so-professionals who are directly being affected by it. We are inviting policymakers, students, journalists, development practitioners, lawyers, health professionals and everyone out there who has an opinion and wants to share it with the larger population. So let’s start the ‘Adda’ and shape the future of our policy.
