Pop-Up Bookshop

Pop-Up Bookshop is an independent mobile children’s bookshop. Building a positive reading culture in our community is at the heart of everything we do. We don't have a 'brick-and-mortar' store, preferring to trade from a variety of locations across our local Dorset community. Pop-Up Bookshop founded the Great Big Read in September 2019, a local schools and nurseries initiative to get more children reading. What is the Great Big Read mission? The Great Big Read mission is to champion literacy locally and to make a great big transformation to school and nursery bookshelves by delivering a bumper boost of brilliant books! How does Great Big Read stand apart from other book fundraising events? It’s no secret that teachers never have ANY spare time, and this is where the Great Big Read stands apart from other book events. Our team does ALL of the hard work by facilitating every aspect of the event, leaving teachers time to teach. How does Great Big Read engage the community? Great Big Read is fully inclusive and engages the whole community by bringing schools, nurseries and businesses together. We work with children of all ages, at every key stage level, all abilities, and from all demographics. Simply put, Great Big Read is a challenge for every child. Working together as a community, we are stronger. How successful is Great Big Read? Our events have raised £34k books for schools and nurseries. We’d love to see Great Big Read work with over 100 settings every year and raise in excess of £100k for new books annually.
