Potilasvakuutuskeskus (PVK) käsittelee kaikki terveyden- ja sairaanhoitoa koskevat potilasvahinkoilmoitukset Suomessa. PVK ratkaisee potilasvahinkoja koskevan lainsäädännön perusteella, onko kyseessä korvattava potilasvahinko, ja maksaa korvaukseen oikeutetulle lain mukaiset korvaukset. PVK toimii potilaiden ja hoitohenkilöstön turvana ja tuottaa potilasvahingoista tietoa terveydenhuollon ja vakuutusyhtiöiden toiminnan sekä potilasturvallisuustyön tueksi. Keskuksen jäseniä ovat kaikki potilasvakuutuksia myöntävät vakuutusyhtiöt Suomessa. PVK on osa Vakuutuskeskus-ryhmää, jonka muut yksiköt ovat Liikennevakuutuskeskus, Ympäristövakuutuskeskus ja Lääkevahinkovakuutuspooli.
