Poulshot Nurseries

The nursery was established from a greenfield site in January 1986, it was levelled to within a very accurate gradient to enhance the drainage of the whole site as the possibilities for a fully water recycled site were taken into consideration already back then! A large despatch/potting building along with 8 tunnels for winter protection were erected also at the end of 1985. The nursery went operational from early 1986, with the first sales being achieved later in the summer of that year. The main reason why we started the nursery in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside was that a 100-mile radius would cover the exact area we intended, as we didn’t want to be national. The production is still as it is to date mainly Shrubs & Perennials; over the years we have seen other additions come and go. All our liners are carefully selected from UK and continental growers for us to be able to achieve maximum growth within the designated growing time, so no propagation is done on site. Our main aim has always been to grow the plants naturally outdoors in a soil based compost so they are as hardy and tough as one can expect and that also enhances shelf life tremendously once they leave our nursery. Our plants are supplied to Garden Centres and landscape architects all with our own transport, again to achieve the highest possible standard of quality.
