pounce is a Minnesota-based print design and Web development boutique, serving clients in industries that include entertainment, public broadcasting, agriculture and health care. The firm draws on a core network of freelance designers and programmers from across the country to create professional, yet affordable Web sites and print publications for clients of all sizes. pounce was founded by Chuck Smith-Dewey, who began developing Web sites in the early '90s at a time when the Web was beginning to build a broad public following. In 1994, Smith-Dewey launched the Health Insurance Resource Center, one of the top consumer health insurance portals on the Web. A developer of specialized Web tools, pounce has also developed numerous data-intense membership sites, e-commerce solutions, content-management systems and interactive scheduling tools.
