In 2005, David Grooms saw an opportunity to provide a helping hand to organizations involved in the transmission and distribution of electricity. He decided to open the doors to Power Consulting Associates (PCA). David understood the importance of the electric grid and the costly effects of incidents that could occur when the grid is not constructed correctly or safely. His vision was to create a team of engineers and construction inspectors who would provide a top-notch service experience that clients could rely on. Setting up shop in Nashville, TN, David knew it would be a great central location to assist some of North America's unique organizations in the power delivery industry. With this simple idea, PCA was born. This idea became popular with one of the largest electric utilities in the country. By 2006, PCA had inspectors and engineers overseeing the construction on one of Georgia Power’s largest transmission line projects, the McGrau Ford - Mostellar Springs. This 500 kV transmission line was 35 miles long. With safety as PCA's number one priority, it ensured the ones constructing the project went home safely every day. From those humble beginnings, PCA has been assisting the largest utility in North America, Duke Energy, and many other exceptional utilities complete its electric transmission projects safely, on time, and within budget. Today, Power Consulting Associates, LLC still offers an incredible array of construction oversight and engineering design services. Our team specializes in transmission line, distribution line, and substation design and construction oversight.
