Precious Plastic is an open-source hardware platform that empowers people worldwide to start their own recycling projects. Our mission is to tackle the plastic waste problem by providing tools, techniques, and knowledge to turn plastic waste into new products locally. Today, more than organizations across the globe are part of the Precious Plastic community, proving every day that small-scale, decentralized recycling can turn waste into opportunity. Now we’re entering an exciting new chapter with Version 5, broken down into 3 phases, to sustain, boost and replace plastic. Phase 1 is about making small-scale recycling financially sustainable, so it can grow, replicate, and offer a real alternative to centralized recycling systems. Version 5 will bring new business models, improved machines, and practical tools to help local recyclers create impact and livelihoods, while reducing plastic waste where it matters most.
