Prepared Dad Foundation

While the importance of early intervention and education for mothers during the perinatal period is well established, many fathers enter this phase with little preparation, minimal guidance, and few targeted supports. Some fathers report feeling underinformed, emotionally unprepared, or invisible within maternity care systems. This has well-documented consequences: increased paternal distress, poorer maternal outcomes, disrupted early bonding, and missed opportunities to prevent longer-term relational and emotional difficulties within families. The Prepared Dad Foundation directly addresses this gap through online programs and peer support. Our signature Prepared Dad Program (https://program.preparedad.org.au/) is designed specifically for first-time fathers, it provides a structured, emotionally supportive, and evidence-informed learning environment. Delivered online by a clinical midwife, psychotherapist and couples counsellor as well as established fathers, the program equips men with the tools, confidence, and knowledge needed to support their partners, understand the birth process, and engage positively with early parenting.
