Prevent Blindness Indiana

Support PBI through our annual Most Beautiful Eyes Contest! Vote early and vote often for the friend or celebrity with the most beautiful eyes to support PBI's sight saving mission! Our mission is to prevent blindness and preserve sight for all Hoosiers through vision screening, education, advocacy, and research. Prevent Blindness Indiana (PBI), established in 1950, is dedicated to serving Indiana residents through a range of sight-saving programs. PBI was the first affiliate of Prevent Blindness America, the nation's leading volunteer eye health and safety organization dedicated to fighting blindness and saving sight. Focused on promoting vision care, PBI and it major statewide partners, such as Lions Clubs and RSVP, touches the lives of thousands of Hoosiers each year through public and professional education, advocacy, certified vision screening and training, plus community and patient service programs and research. PBI and its partners screened more than Hoosiers, including children! In addition to screenings, PBI promotes a program entitle Gift of Vision. Through this program, generous eye doctors provide in-kind services ranging from free exams and glasses to free surgeries. There are currently 150 participating optometrists and ophthalmologists that together provided more than 1,300 services last year. PBI also sponsors Sight for Student, a partnership with VIsion Service Plan which provides $250 vouchers for financially qualified students to cover the cost of an eye exam and glasses.
