Private Theaters was founded in March 1997. With a good understanding of the standards used by the professional film and television industry coupled with a passion and desire to help each customer enjoy the full potential of their entertainment purchases, Mr. Janda began to seek a way to provide this missing element to all home theater enthusiasts. In March 1997, Mr. Janda attended a training and certification seminar given by the founders of the Imaging Science Foundation, Joe Kane and Joel Silver. Shortly after becoming an ISF certified video calibration technician, Mr. Janda purchased his first color analyzer for an investment of and began providing professional video calibration services to home theater retailers, custom a/v dealers, and private clients in the Jacksonville, FL. metropolitan area. In the coming years, the company continued to add performance and support services such as acoustical analysis/correction, sales consultation, design, and programming to its mix of solutions it offered while also expanding the service coverage area to Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee, Pensacola, southern Georgia and Alabama. In 2004, the company ended its specialty support services to electronics retailers and small custom a/v dealers by expanding into a custom integration firm providing an array of products, services, and support to private residences in northeast Florida. In an effort to better represent our offerings and vision for the company going forward, the company was renamed Private Theaters. Today, Private Theaters is driven by the same unwavering passion and commitment to excellence that led to its beginnings and, though we continue to grow, our mission has remained the same. To ensure that each client enjoys the most authentic entertainment experience in their home, everyday, and every time.
