Project New Dawn
Sustainably and with scale, Project New Dawn aims to help selected homeless Participants integrate back into mainstream society. Employment & Housing opportunities pave pathways for the Participants to stand on their own two feet, regain their self-esteem & regain a sense of purpose. Thereby, creating brighter outlooks, creating New Dawns for the Participants. The first Project New Dawn home was established in September 2008, in Greensborough, Victoria. Since 2008, the Project New Dawn and its band of volunteers have established “male” homes in Perth, Adelaide, Newcastle and Brisbane, with Melbourne having two homes, including a “female” home. As the Project aims to help the homeless to become independent, there are no “free rides”. The Participants pay for their share of the rent and utilities, funded through their employment. Since 2008, it is estimated that Project New Dawn has enrolled over forty Participants Australia-wide. Over 50% of the Participants have graduated or have experienced positive life changing experiences. Future growth of Project New Dawn will be Melbourne focussed.
