Project Search Toronto
The Project SEARCH school-to-work transition model is a ten month employment preparation program for students with developmental or intellectual disabilities who are in their final year of high school. The model was developed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and has since spread to more than 600 sites worldwide with great success for students and business partners. During the training program year, students pursue their employment goals through real-life work experience (3 co-ops) combined with training in employability and life skills. Project SEARCH Toronto is based at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital and Toronto Rehab-UHN – and operates in collaboration with Community Living Toronto, Ontario Disability Employment Network (ODEN), Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and United Way Greater Toronto.
