Projeto Growlife

GrowLIFE aims to foster behavioural change throughout the portuguese food system, promoting agroecology and environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable practices. Responding to the European Green Deal, the European Climate Pact, and the Farm to Fork Strategy, GrowLIFE targets agriculture, the fifth largest emitter of greenhouse gases. To catalyse transformation, GrowLIFE employs a multifaceted strategy that involves capacitating farmers in sustainable practices, incentivizing policymakers to support progressive food systems policies, increasing consumer awareness, and empowering catering professionals to adopt sustainable sourcing and waste reduction practices. Leveraging participatory methodologies, GrowLIFE facilitates peer-to-peer knowledge transfer, conducts workshops, hosts multi-stakeholder discussions, and collaborates with local communities to design and implement tailored policy interventions. GrowLIFE is a 5-year Climate and Governance Information project, co-funded by the European Union’s LIFE Programme, which started on June 1st, 2023. It is coordinated by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and FCiências.ID, in partnership with Turismo de Portugal, involving the participation of its 12 Hospitality and Tourism Schools.
