Provider Protection Online (PPO) is the only company to create a comprehensive business to business network for medical professionals to post their outstanding accounts receivables by patient for other providers in the network to view. In today's private medical field the cost is on the rise. Changes in patient insurance coverage have also caused their OOP/DED to rise tremendously. This increase in expense for the patient has caused a higher rate in unpaid medical bills leading to uncollected A/R for the medical provider. These unpaid bills typically are either written off or sent to a collection service. In the event of write off, no one is held responsible for the bill and no one is paid. The bills sent to the collection service may be collected at some point, but at the potential cost of the patient’s credit and the relationship with their medical provider. This creates a lose/lose situation. The PPO network resolves both scenarios by giving medical providers a place they can report their unpaid patient accounts. If a patient tries to receive services from another provider, the physician will be able see all open accounts reported for that patient. This allows the providing office to make the financial decision best for their practice on the spot. PPO urges providers to send these potential patients back to the reporting member on the network to resolve their balances before taking them. In the event an office is not comfortable with sending a patient back to close an open account they have, they still reserve the right to make the best decision regarding care provision, as well as adding their up to date information for the patient in the PPO database.
