Founded in 1969 by a local entrepreneur, Daya Eika Samudra started out as a small local freight forwarder agency that is based in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. DES was built with the dream of delivering a one-stop-shop logistics shopping experience for its customers, where customers could find multiple logistics related services, ranging from forwarding, stevedoring to warehousing. After several years in operation, DES decided to expand range of service to include stevedoring in Medan's most prominent harbor, Belawan. Aided by Indonesia's growing economy and a boom in demand, DES decided to launch its warehousing service, bagging service and heavy equipment rental services for its customers.
