Puget Capital provides debt and equity for complex real estate transactions. Peter Houghton formed Puget Capital in 2009 as an advisory, consulting and brokerage firm specializing in real estate capital markets. Peter created the firm in response to the turmoil that was present in the capital markets at the time, and the need for investors and operators to be able to navigate complex market conditions. Peter has over 10 years of real estate investment, development and management experience, with a focus on opportunistic "event driven" transactions. Most recently, Peter Houghton served as Managing Director for MacFarlane Partners, where he oversaw the institutional money manager's investment activities in Southern California. Peter's primary directive was to identify investment opportunities and provide oversight for MacFarlane's family of high-yield opportunity funds. MacFarlane Partners is one of the leading real estate investment management firms in the United States, managing more than $11 billion in real estate assets. Prior to joining MacFarlane Partners, Peter was vice president of acquisitions for Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds, a joint venture between Canyon Capital Realty Advisors and Earvin “Magic” Johnson based in Los Angeles that invests in urban real estate markets nationwide. He structured equity joint ventures, sourced acquisition and construction debt, and originated mezzanine and senior-secured bridge loans to create a $2.7 billion urban real estate portfolio. He also served on the venture’s investment committee.
