Puvi

PUVI can be traced back to the 1700’s as a Sesame oil made by our ancestor Perianna Gounder, an avid and proud farmer from the Kongu Vellalar clan in the Kangeyam region of South India. It was a farm-produced oil and was also donated to fuel the large lamps of a few ancient temples in the village – a tradition followed till date. For many decades, families close to us have been buying oils from us and storing it for the whole year. Recently, the trend of people preferring healthier cold pressed oils inspired the branding of these farm-produced oils as ‘PUVI’. The name PUVI means Earth in Tamil language. It’s a handcrafted product by process. What we sell is what our family literally uses too.
