Ten years ago, I made a bold career shift. After specializing in international relations, development studies, international labour standards and translation at several universities —and building a long career in international organisations, I chose to use that academic and professional foundation in a new way: helping people connect across languages. Interpreting emerged as a natural choice. In a few weeks, I’ll be celebrating a decade in this profession. Every meeting—regardless of its topic or format—deserves thoughtful, detailed preparation. Speakers and participants are both the starting point and the end goal. They deserve nothing less than the highest level of expertise and care. Every message must be conveyed faithfully, with all its nuances and the same professionalism for everyone: from people in underserved communities to some of the world’s most influential decision-makers. Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, I have also facilitated high-level and complex discussions across a wide range of settings, including the UN, EU, think tanks, political parties, businesses, trade unions and NGOs.
