QMAP ACADEMY is an in-person training program dedicated to assuring our students understand the importance of safe administration of medications. We believe that: • To administer medications is a privilege. • The role of a QMAP is a major responsibility that affects the quality of clients' lives. • Improper or careless administration of medications may result in illness or death. • QMAP’s are responsible for what they administer regardless if the QMAP prepares the meds they administer directly or if administering medications using medication reminder boxes (MRBs) that others (client, family, other facility staff) have prepared. The Qualified Medication Administration Person (QMAP) medication administration program is established in accordance with Section 25-1.5-301, C.R.S et seq. The medication administration course is designed to teach unlicensed staff to safely administer medications in settings authorized by law. QMAP’s will be authorized to administer medications in the following settings: • Assisted living residences. • Alternative care facilities. • State certified adult day programs. • Residential Child Care Facilities • Developmentally Disabled (with additional training from PASA)
