CapGains Inc (d/b/a QSBS Expert) is a tech-enabled way for Founders, VCs, and other early shareholders of privately held corporations to monitor on an ongoing basis and contemporaneously document their eligibility for IRC 1202; the QSBS capital gains exemption. In doing so, QSBS holders can avoid the ~6 tripwires and hazards the average venture-backed startup encounters across its lifecycle which jeopardizes eligibility, and thus the ability to claim the exemption upon exit. QSBS Expert was founded by venture capitalists, lawyers, operators, and accountants who understand the pain points of maintaining compliance with QSBS. The QSBS team is on our mission to (i) increase the awareness around QSBS - today over 80% of startup founders have never heard of it;(ii) help others navigate the complexities and ambiguities of the tax code, and provide software-based tools to streamline compliance and facilitate eligibility.
