Quaker Tapestry Museum
Our unique and fascinating museum takes you on a journey through the Quaker influence on the modern world, exploring the industrial revolution, developments in science and medicine, the abolition of slavery, social reform, astronomy and ecology. 350 years of social history and Quaker stories are brought to life in more than 40 vibrant embroidered panels, housed within this architecturally stunning and original Georgian Meeting House in the traditional Lakeland market town of Kendal. We additionally have a supplementary collection of over 800 items with local and Quaker connections. Delight in the detail of the beautiful needlework and the craftsmanship involved in the tapestry’s creation. Made by over men, women and children from 15 countries, over 15 years, it’s a calm, serene and emotive experience for all.
