R-Coat

R-Coat is a community-based fashion brand that reduces waste. We turn broken umbrellas into jackets and accessories designed and handmade in Portugal for people who want to wear stylish garments while reducing their environmental footprint. Together, we contribute to a more sustainable, ethical and fair type of fashion. With our initiative we upcycle broken umbrellas (non-recyclable objects) keeping them out of landfills and incineration, contributing to a reduction of GHG emissions and possible contamination of natural areas. R-Coat is not just a brand, it’s a community-based project that empowers people to become Umbrella Heroes and save broken umbrellas from the streets and trash. With their help, and the help of our collection points (more than 30 eco shops and universities in Portugal and new ones coming soon in Italy) we saved more than umbrellas already and transformed them in fashionable garments, showing people that waste can be a resource.
