While Street Food is popular in India, the champions of street food are struggling. Many months ago while having a casual talk with a Street Food vendor, I found out that they are living a miserable life. Not only they are facing financial troubles but they also struggle with corrupt officials of the Police & Municipality department. Moreover, there is a lack of professional guidance; because of this, they are unable to expand their businesses. Most of the Food vendors either work alone or with 1-2 family members, because of which their lot of time gets wasted bringing groceries, and cutting-chopping, instead of selling. They have no FSSAI licenses with them neither they are aware of how to onboard themselves on Zomato/Swiggy. They are all alone on this journey with none to support or look up to. Ironically, the unorganised street food sector of India generates crore/day worth of business. We want to do with Food Karts what Oyo did with unorganised Hotels - Bring them under one umbrella brand & unlock billion-dollar opportunities. We have taken some baby steps & tied up with over 10 Kart owners, and now plan to add 4-5 of them on a daily basis. We are doing the following - Solution - We decided to become a one-stop solution for Street Food vendors. We did or planning to execute the following ideas - 1. RAASA branded Karts - We encourage them to come under our brand name, instead of having their standalone name which very few people know. This will create high brand visibility & trust in the brand. FSSAI Licenses - We obtained FSSAI Licenses for them thus saving their time & effort. Onboarding on Swiggy/Zomato - To add value to their business we further helped them to onboard online Food Delivery companies; we handle their backend work & perhaps it's the first time they are selling beyond their karts. They sell under the RAASA brand name 4. Grocery Delivery - To save their time; we help them deliver groceries to their doorstep.
