The Action Network for Sustainable Development, ANSD, of Colombia, is a non-profit organization located in the city of Duitama. Established in response to the challenges the planet is facing in sustainability matters, at local level. We are people who wants to be part of the solution to different problems through community action and strengthening alliances. Historically, Duitama has had waste disposal problems for decades that are still unsolved today. Global warming and the sustainable development goals are another concern of ANSD. We want to encourage and create sustainable communities, where the disposal of organic waste is not a problem but an opportunity for the development of different projects such as urban gardens and compost production, fundamental activities in sustainable communities. ANSD of Duitama also looks for the dignity of environmental workers; those labors are usually carried out in unhealthy and unworthy spaces, and are seen as unimportant jobs, we want to raise awareness in the community on issues of sustainability, waste management and show the importance of all these labors for the community, the environment, the planet, biodiversity, etc. As a network, we decided to organize ourselves with the community of the Camilo Torre's neighborhood for the development of projects that contribute to make the community sustainable, we want to reduce the amount of organic waste sent to landfills to 0 kg per month, by using the Silva's bale digester, PDS. This project began in March of 2020.
