What is Ramadan FM? Each year, many Muslim communities across the UK are awarded a short term Radio licence by Ofcom, the UK's communications regulator. The “Ramadan Economy” in the UK, is estimated to be worth over £200 million. Many communities apply for the licence so that they may broadcast during Ramadan, a month in which holds special spiritual value for Muslims around the World. The Ramadan Radio in Leicester, called Ramadan FM, is a not for-profit organisation. With many successful years of broadcast, the experienced management team continues to offer an exceptional Radio output. Working closely with volunteers, to create engaging and innovative programming. In 2019, the Ramadan FM broadcast reached in excess of 65 K listeners. The Ramadan FM Radio Station offers a range of programmes. Broadcasting 24 hours a day during the month of Ramadan, many programmes are produced exclusively “in-house”. The content of the programming is not restricted to the playing of Quran - far from it. There are programmes covering a variety of content dealing with both spiritual and social issues, catering for the diverse demographic groups which call Leicester home. From dedicated Children’s Programming to Charity Fundraisers, from shows on Health to interviews with prominent figures within the Leicester community and beyond, Ramadan FM caters for the Community as a whole.
