Ramsey Rescue Squad

We are an independent Rescue Squad operating to serve the Borough of Ramsey for various capacities including vehicle extrication, technical rescue, & more! Mission The Squad’s functions include vehicle extrication (rescuing people trapped in serious accidents), structural collapse rescues, hazardous materials decontamination and high angle, confined space, water and ice rescues as well as supporting the Ramsey Fire Department, Ramsey Ambulance Corps and Police Department in a multitude of other capacities. The Ramsey Rescue Squad is a independent heavy rescue squad, meaning we are not affiliated with the Ramsey Fire Department or the Ramsey Ambulance Corps. The Rescue Squad receives operational and capital funding from the Borough of Ramsey for equipment, apparatus and training purposes. The Ramsey Rescue Squad, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 entity which serves as the business portion of the organization. The Squad generates financial support from the private sector to support day to day operations, fund equipment and provide additional training for its members. The Ramsey Rescue Squad is charged with several primary tasks: High Angle Rescue Confined Space Rescue Search and Rescue Water Rescue Fire Scene Support Operations Ramsey Police Department assistance for traffic and crowd control as well as crime scene investigations Decontamination Services in Partnership with Mahwah Fire Department HazMat Co. 2 Assistance to the Ramsey Ambulance Corps in the form of Drivers, EMT's and lifting on-scene The Ramsey Rescue Squad was originally founded nearly fifty years ago as a Civil Defense Unit. For many years, the Squad operated a single truck which responded originally from a garage at Finch Park and later moved to the Borough Garage complex adjacent to the Rail Station.
