Rangzen-Itim
Rangzen-ITIM is an independent 501(c)(30) organization dedicated to restoring Tibet’s independence (rangzen) from China through non-violent action. Rangzen was formed in 1995 by Thupten Jigme Norbu, the Dalai Lama’s eldest brother. Working hand in hand with Dr. Larry Gerstein, Director of the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies at Ball State University, Norbu (known as “Takster Rinpoche”) created the organization in an effort to increase global awareness to the plight of the Tibetan people living under Chinese occupation. Takster Rinpoche shifted into academia to teach Tibetan Studies at Indiana University after decades of tireless effort in moving world governments to recognize and act upon the human atrocities within an occupied Tibet.
