Reach A Child

REACH-A-Child partners with local First Responders (whether a police officer, a firefighter or an EMT) to supply each vehicle with a REACH BAG — complete with children’s books and drawstring backpacks — which the First Responders keep in their vehicles to bring out when they encounter children-in-crisis. The REACH BAG Program operates as follows: Each squad or emergency vehicle is equipped with a REACH BAG containing the following: 10 children’s books & 10 drawstring backpacks. When First Responders encounter a child-in-crisis, they offer the child a book which the child gets to keep. The First Responder also gives the child a drawstring backpack to put the book in – and anything else the child might have to keep with them. The cost of the REACH BAG also includes one annual refill of the books and the children’s backpacks. Make sure YOUR local First Responders have a REACH BAG in their First Responder vehicle!
