Rewrite your city's history, block by block. Read/Write Library (formerly Chicago Underground Library) collects media from all over Chicago to highlight the contributions we all make to the progress of a city — connecting people, neighborhoods and movements along the way. Our public reading room and programs do more than preserve the important history of community media in Chicago. We believe that if people felt more of a connection to their neighborhoods, histories and cultural lineages and could actually see the common roots of creativity at work around them, this would result in a more active, supportive, collaborative, diverse and informed cultural landscape.
