Reality Capture is a technology that employs the use of point clouds which is a set of data points in space generated by a 3D laser scanner to measure points on external surfaces and produce a render of a particular feature of interest. Why is Reality Capture Important? Reality Capture has the following major applications - To give a true 3-dimensional representation of a feature such as the internal rooms of a building or the setup in a factory for purposes of having a remote view of the site including taking measurements and identifying potential construction conflicts- To employ the generated point cloud and the relevant software to give the most accurate volume computations for excavated materials as in dam construction as well as heaped volumes of materials such as for cement companies.
