Rebuilding Together Austin

Rebuilding Together Austin is a not-for-profit organization that addresses affordable, safe and efficient housing and “aging in place” issues. The mission of Rebuilding Together Austin is repairing homes, revitalizing communities and rebuilding lives. Together we transform the lives of low-income homeowners by improving the safety and health of their homes and revitalizing their communities. Our vision is safe homes and communities for everyone. The homeowners we serve include families with children, seniors, people with disabilities and Veterans who are low-income. Typical repairs include, but are not limited to, ADA modifications including walk in showers, ramps, grab bars, handrails, bathmats, shower chairs and shower hoses; carpentry and plumbing repairs, roofing repairs and replacement, heating and cooling repairs, foundation repairs, door and window replacements, painting, yard clean up, fencing and landscaping. Having a place to call home is essential not only for the wellbeing of individual families and community members, but also to ensure Central Texas’ continued economic growth and success. Our homes and neighborhoods set the stage for our lives. Research has shown that housing problems have ripple effects on health, education, economic mobility, child welfare, racial equity, criminal justice, and more. Affordable, stable, and quality housing options for all types of households and income levels support better outcomes. Specifically, safe, stable housing means: • children do better in school • seniors are healthier and more socially connected • parents and children experience better mental health • workers are more productive • trips to emergency rooms are reduced • families have more disposable income to strengthen their financial security and boost local economies. Health outcomes are intricately tied with housing stability and costs.
