Recover Laboratory

You are the experiencer! You are the artwork, You are the poem; the electricity, the scenery, the experience. You are the cold, the heat, the touch and the shiver. Welcome. Recover Laboratory is an art company led by three multi-talented young women from Finland. The company combines contemporary circus and contemporary art to create immersive experiences. We ask you to stop and experience art fully, in your own pace and your own way. The delightfully bizarre, even absurd, immersive shows often take the form of a labyrinth – and sometimes they don’t. As an audience member, you are invited to step inside, find your way, make your choices, and create your own experience. We create unique performances, art experiences and immersive worlds with contemporary circus, art, music, and other medias. The artworks are site-specific, enormous labyrinth-like mega-performances, children’s immersive wonderlands, or smaller performances for traditional stages. We build frameworks where we – along with the audience – can explore the world and being in the world. The reason behind our artworks is honesty; connecting with people in the freedom provided by art. Anything is possible in our spaces, just like everything is possible in an ordinary day. We see the extraordinary in nothingness. Your experience with us can be gentle or harsh, bizarre or detached, challenging or soft; it can go as far as you want. Let’s go together- Recover Laboratory is based in Helsinki, Finland. The core team consists of Miradonna Sirkka, Inna Huttunen and Sofi Häkkinen, who design all the productions of Recover Laboratory. Häkkinen, Huttunen and Sirkka share an optimistic and determined mindset. If we don’t know what to do, we will find out. In addition to this core trio, we have a wide network of professionals working with us in and the team is always re-formed by the needs of the performance space. Every productions crew depends on a space where we are working.
