Recoverymate

RecoveryMate is a student-based nonprofit organization working with and for cancer patients. The organization’s mission is to help cancer patients connect and socialize with each other, in hope of finding a soulmate and bonding through the stressful period of cancer recovery. RecoveryMate provides the platform upon which these connection can be formed. In this current age of cloud computing, the website divides its membership into four distinct categories (cancer patients/family members/social workers/health professionals), ensuring that patients can receive firsthand information from verified sources. This is to provide support and care in hopes of raising the quality of life of patients to an optimum level. Another future provided on the website is a wishing well for patients to shout out towards society, giving the general public an idea and direction towards how to help these patients. RecoveryMate has also reached out towards primary schools located deep within the mountain regions of Taiwan, telling them about the difficulties patients face each day, and asking them to write letters or draw paintings of encouragement, which we will then deliver for them. In the future we aim to hold more public awareness events to increase society’s support for cancer patients. As of now, RecoveryMate has registered with Taiwan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs as a Non-Government Organization, and hopes to be able to spread our ideas and website to other countries, so that cancer patients in all regions of the world can receive better support and care.
