Dean Putegnat, founder of RedFish, and his family have a long history in the Brownsville community. Members of the Putegnat family started Model Laundry and Dry Cleaning in the 1890s, which has grown to a uniform company serving Texas and Colorado, and started Annie S. Putegnat Elementary School in 1915, the first elementary school in Brownsville Independent School District. Dean, along with his father Barry Putegnat, started Rancho Caracol, a wingshooting lodge for sportsman and travelers alike. Rudy the RedFish is the keen and clean mascot that teaches our community how easy it is to recycle and preserve our natural environments.
