Region Austral

Región Austral is an urban design, landscape architecture, and territorial planning studio based in Córdoba, Argentina. The practice is committed to the design and transformation of urban and territorial spaces through interdisciplinary collaboration, civic participation, and a strategic understanding of social, infrastructural, and ecological dynamics. The studio specializes in projects that address urban resilience, the improvement of vulnerable neighborhoods, sustainable infrastructure, and ecological design across Latin America. Its methodology combines research and implementation through a multiscalar and interdisciplinary approach. The team has led and collaborated on the realization of projects in multiple cities in the region, working with public agencies, academic institutions, civil society, private actors, and multilateral organizations. Región Austral was founded and is led by Soledad Patiño and Stefano Romagnoli. Their work has been exhibited at national and international events, including the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the Argentina Architecture Biennial, and the Latin American Biennial of Landscape Architecture. The practice has received recognition in numerous architecture and urbanism competitions, as well as research fellowships. From climate change to rapid urbanization, Región Austral places design and planning at the center of strategies for addressing the pressing challenges of contemporary cities. The studio maintains an active academic presence, contributing to the advancement of knowledge through research, publications, and teaching. Soledad and Stefano were trained as architects at the National University of Córdoba and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
