Infected by the pioneering spirit of the 1950s, tool maker Fritz Weber founded the company Fritz Weber Feinmechanik und Werkzeugbau. He called his model the ER collet chuck with R acting as a synonym for Rego-Fix. In 1993, the ER collet chuck was standardized as the German industrial norm (DIN 6499). Accordingly, the term ER collet chuck became a standard name for the world's top-selling tool clamping system.
