Resilience Revolution

What does the Resilience Revolution actually mean? Life can be a challenge for lots of different reasons, for some more than others. We want everyone to have the opportunity to learn more about what they can do to overcome these challenges and thrive, for themselves and others (building individual and community resilience) …AND we want to challenge and change the things that make life difficult in the first place (reducing inequalities) WE CALL THIS BEATING THE ODDS WHILST ALSO CHANGING THE ODDS. A COMMUNITY APPROACH The Resilience Revolution is taking a community development approach. This means we recognise and value the expertise within our Blackpool community, and so the community needs to be at the heart of everything we do. Through working together using a resilience lens, we aim to identify solutions to the challenges impacting on mental health, and make Blackpool a more resilient town. There are a range of ways in which we are working together: Community Engagement – attending and running events across Blackpool to spread the word about the Resilience Revolution. Sometimes this links to national campaigns such as ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’, and sometimes its about running our ‘Resilience Get Togethers’ to give people interested in the revolution and chance to find out more. Collective Action – coming together with likeminded individuals and groups to influence decision makers and shape how things are done. We are involved in a range of campaign groups seeking to use collective action to seek change. Organisational Development – combining our understanding of resilience, with what organisations across Blackpool are doing really well, we acknowledge what is already happening to support resilience, and identify what else we can do to go one step further.
