Rewriting Our Future, Inc

A nonprofit organization that focuses on Dual Diagnosis awareness. Dual Diagnosis refers to anyone who struggles with a drug or alcohol addiction co-occurring along with any other psychological illness, such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and many more. Around 45% of all people with a substance-use disorder also struggle with another coexisting psychological disorder, as well. However, less than 8% of these high-risk patients get the proper treatment that is needed for a chance at a healthy and successful recovery. Our organization works with these patients and their families to understand their individual disorders and accomplish their personal goals for recovery. We also work to educate the public on how dual diagnosis touches all of our lives and to help eliminate the stigma associated with both addiction and mental illness, in general. We believe that by using a skill-building and education program focused on both therapeutic and professional writing, we can give these patients the opportunity to find their own voices, along with the confidence to use them in ways that will improve their confidence and open the doors to many new opportunities as they move forward. Above all, it is our objective to bring to these individuals the element of HOPE. We see it as the most crucial factor in a successful recovery. ReWriting Our Future, Inc. was founded by Amiee Boyd, who was also dually diagnosed with an opiate addiction and borderline personality disorder. After many years and a lot of research, she finally found an option that integrated the treatments for both disorders. Now in recovery, Amiee has dedicated herself to establishing an organization to help others who are still suffering and in need of a support, understanding, and compassion. The ReWriting Our Future Organization focuses on providing direct assistance and resources to individuals in need, along with awareness campaigns meant to strengthen the community as a whole. Together we are fighting this war so that everyone can win.
