For over 30 years, Riding Unlimited has been Turning Obstacles into Opportunities by transforming the lives of individuals with special physical, intellectual, educational, and emotional needs through the unique bond between horse and rider. Our mission is to empower each participant to build confidence, strength, and independence through therapeutic horsemanship. Today, we serve a diverse community of participants, including veterans, first responders, children, and adults facing a variety of challenges. Who We Are Founded in 1990, Riding Unlimited is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex from our serene 49-acre facility in Ponder, Texas. As a Premier Accredited Center of the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH, Int'l), we proudly provide safe, affordable, and impactful therapeutic riding experiences for individuals of all ages—ranging from children as young as three to senior adults—across DFW. Why Horses? “In riding a horse, we borrow freedom.” Each week, our riders experience a sense of freedom and mobility that transcends their everyday lives. The horse’s movement naturally mimics the human gait, promoting improved mobility, muscle strength, and emotional well-being—benefits difficult to achieve in traditional clinical settings. Therapeutic Benefits Our therapeutic horsemanship programs offer more than just riding; they provide life-changing benefits. Riders experience improved muscle tone, balance, coordination, motor skills, and emotional well-being. Through engaging activities like relay races and obstacle courses, participants build self-confidence, strengthen memory, and enhance their social connections. Equine-Assisted Counseling for Veterans Supported by a Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veteran’s Assistance grant, this 10-week program pairs veterans with therapy horses and licensed mental health professionals, many with military backgrounds.
