Rising Alternative

Rising Alternative is a leading international distributor of music programs for exhibition in digital format in cinemas, cultural centers and other public venues. In 2003, the founder, Giovanni Cozzi, organized one of the first presentations of High Definition Alternative content programs for the big screen: the LIVE transmission of a total Solar Eclipse, as seen from HD cameras in Antarctica. It was projected digitally on big screens across the United States to amazed astronomy enthusiasts, who actually clapped their hands at the moon covering the sun. The big screen was no longer just about films. It was also now about special events, also called “alternative content”, which brought additional audiences – and consequently new business – to the cinema. Shortly thereafter, the presentations of Opera and Ballet in High Definition began, and quickly became the most successful form of these special events. In partnership with FraCinema for Opera de Paris, RAI, Unitel, C Major, Accentus, Leonine, EuroArts and many other producers, Rising Alternatives provides a complete selection of programs from the world's most prestigious performing arts institutions. Since its foundation, the Company has distributed over 400 event cinema releases, including 110 LIVE events, bringing original world class programming to more than three thousand screens in more than 60 countries. In 2019 Rising Alternative became part of the A Contracorriente Films group and has locations in Barcelona and New York.
