River City Plants specializes in the creation of custom made container gardens for residential and commercial spaces in the City of Richmond. River City Plants is committed to contributing to this sustainable system in a number of ways: 1. We source our plants locally from nurseries, garden centers and farmers who implement sustainable and/or organic growing practices in their business model. We make our own biologically enriched soil in house! No synthetic fertilizers, wetting agents or chemicals come anywhere near our potting shed! Any pest or disease control in our maintenance service utilized OMRI approved fungicides/herbicides (when necessary) to keep your containers happy. Our first line of defense is companion planting insect and disease deterring plants alongside those who are more susceptible to becoming the victim of a hungry bug."The ultimate definition of a sustainable system is one that serves people, sustains or improves the environment, and enhances the economy - on the scale of the entire planet - over the next hundred or several hundred years."
