Independant Consultant Architect specialising in the following: Design in a heritage context: I have been involved with designing in sensitive locations and working on listed buildings for much of my professional life. Including the refurbishment of the Royal Arcade in Norwich for Legal & General while a partner with Ley Colbeck and later with BDP negotiating with English Heritage to alter the old town hall in Wimbledon. I have also designed buildings in or adjacent to conservation areas in, Ashford, The City of London, Salisbury, Sheffield and Oxford among others. This has developed into an appreciation of setting issues and experience in producing and assessing verifiable views for the design and planning process. Masterplanning and Urban Design: I have worked with several masterplan schemes both in the early stages of development and taking aspects of these projects through to detail design including Waterfront City in Melbourne for ING and in the UK I have worked in Sheffield, Southampton, Peterborough and Brent Cross for Hammerson and Salisbury for Land Securities while with BDP. Design Review and Management: This has also included commercial strategy, including retail, residential and mixed use also involving the review of scheme designs prepared by other architects and the management of a process of change.
